RIP tenth Doctor

David Tennant has announced his departure is to follow the 2009 specials.

Tennant confirmed his departure in his acceptance speech for Outstanding Drama Performance at the National Television Awards. He has since given an interview to BBC news, which strangely doesn't list "murdering Catherine Tate" as one of his regrets in leaving.

Sad to hear, but he had a good run. I would imagine Peter Davison may have given him the famous advice he received from Patrick Troughton about only doing 3 seasons. Tennant's 3 seasons and a few specials certainly restored the show to great ratings heights for which we should be thankful. I don't think it would be outside the realms of possibility seeing Tennant return to the role in a multiple Doctor story at some point. I think he'd be the most eager of the past Doctors to return.
