I'll risk being laughed at ... mine is not old hag syndrome (although I have been called one on occasion)... about 3 years after my cat died laying in bed one night with (the now ex) husband felt what can only be described as a cat jump on the bed and walk up the length of it and lay down beside me in the old cats customary position, I then felt, not heard, purring. thinking it was just me being half asleep and missing the cat I quietly asked if he was awake and he said yes - I asked if he coudl feel anything and he described exactly where the 'cat' was laying and also the fact that it was purring... she laid there for a further 15 minutes!! at the same time we both commented that she had gone.... it wasn't scarey at all, just really weird to be so awake and get the identical sensation. I laugh in the face of danger, then hide til it goes away. ~Xander |

If people have souls or whatever it is that we need to have to have an after-life, then why not creatures? Especially pets. I`m not an animal lover but you only need to look into a creatures eyes to see that it has soul and personalility. I`m not a veggie nor a vegan; but I would be more proud if I were. You cannot measure a creatures` soul by its` ability to speak or plead for its` life. |

I know exactly what you mean. I also wish I could be a vegetarian as I don't like the thought of living being suffering for my benefit. Thou am not sure about souls, but I believe that the survivors may manifest these feelings as a way to cope with their loss. I know when I had these feelings, it not only creeped me out, but I felt that she loved me enough to come and visit whilst I did not actualy believe that sha came just to sleep on my bed. The feelings fade as I got use to her passing. |

I think mine was similar... it was around a time when I was missing her so much but also thinking about if I was ready to get a kitten... I didn't but weirdly enough my current kitty (aka the tank.. she's HUGE) looks so much like my old tegan (yeah I know) looks so much like her that my kids thought it was her daughter. I really felt she was telling me it was ok if I got a kitten and that she still loved me.
I definitely think animals have a soul... some are just not as developed as others. I would love to be vego but I have to admit that I like meat
btw.. current kitty is Rhiow, but I have had a tegan and a romana... anyone else been goofy enough to name pets after companions? I laugh in the face of danger, then hide til it goes away. ~Xander |

Rosie had a Siamese called Turlough. It was skinny and treacherous and was reveled in Planet of Fire to be a political dissident. For treachery and skinnyness. |

She moved in with a bad person who trained dogs to kill cats. What Turlough's fate was I don't know, but it wasn't going to end well. |

My old (and deceased) cat still visits me when I visit my Mum, she hates Dad's bird and likes to scare it awake at 3am.
She also likes to scare the new cat, it's so funny. |

Back to the theme of supernatural occurances....
My Mum once got a phone call from her Mum exactly one year after Grandma's death. Apparently Grandma told Mum off for not ironing the socks properly - I think my Mum has issues.
Once met a woman who could see aura's.
Said my Mum had a light, beautiful and caring aura. Said my Dad had a black aura that sucked the life out of all living things. She got those two right.
And as for my aura, that was scarey. She said that my aura had all colours and seemed to cycle through them like a glow globe, not resting on any particular colour for very long.
If anyone has an explanation I'd be interested. |
