I like it despite what others at the show thought. 
It would have been better if Nicholas Cage was not in it (as usual), but one said the role requires a wooden actor so Nicholas Cage was ideally suited for the part. 

I thought the effects showing the transformation and the rides were well done.

One point, I have not read or seen the comics it was made on, so I had no baggage to bring along.

It was never a big success in either incarnation (although both had their own title, which is more than Blade ever did), and suffered from the editorial retro-convention that Blaze couldn't have really sold his soul to the devil, as that would have been blasphemous. The Marvel universe is scattered with Devil-like characters as a consequence.

But why do americans call the hero Johnny. 

Because the character's name is Johnny Blaze? Or are there hidden depths to your question?

Re:  why Bruce Banner was called David in the Hulk tv series.

Believe it or not, the reason for the name change was because the tv executives thought that the name Bruce sounded 'too gay', so they changed it to the more 'manly' name of David.

I thought Bill Bixby was great in the show, but I wasn't fan of the movie though.

Ghost Rider was pretty good, although I thought it didn't go far enough in terms of being dark and moody.  The comic book was pretty violent - which you didn't see in the film.

Plus I thought Nicholas Cage was a bit too old for the role.  It's interesting that the movie starts with his character as a teenager  - I think they should have stayed at that age.

The Punisher and Ghost Rider films would have been better had they been given a more adult rating, and be allowed to show the violent world that the characters live in.

Don't like him much, but he was the only actor considered for the lead role in both Superman 1978 and what became Superman Returns 2006...!

The casting of Nicholas Cage surprised me too. Though not a great fan of the comic it was obvious to me he was a young James Dean type!
  Not having seen the film, perhaps the intent was to show him a few years down the line ?

at least they did not cock it up as mush as they have other comic adaptions eg catwoman.

I rather enjoyed Ghost Rider - Peter Fonda was great.

They should have cast someone attractive in the role of love interest though.

They could do great stuff in adapting comics to the screen, but it's too often enough to say "It could have been worse..."

Say what you will, I like Daredevil. I want to see them use Stilt Man in the next one!

I think I prefer some of the little know comics to movie adaptions eg Ghost World and American Splender.

I enjoyed Ghost World.  Don't remember much of it, but I enjoyed it.

What about V for vendetta - not a bad comic adaption.

Yeah I agree. sin city is good as well. maybe its hard to screw up a comic I have never heard of.

Not seen V for Vendetta but I had to buy the graphic novel, it really is excellent. Apparently Alan Moore distanced himself from the film but I would still love to see it.
With the technology available today I would REALLY love to see an Avengers movie but it would have to be well written!
Spiderman was a great film, (although I don`t think the computer generated graphics were as convincing as they could have been)
Fantastic Four was okay-ish but The Hulk was unwatchable. The story may or may not have been adequate but, as I say, I just couldn`t watch it.
As someone once stated (as regards to comics) once you have accepted the premise then everything that follows should be convincing. If you lose that then everything else is lost and, I suppose, this applies to Sci-Fi also.

Avengers as in the Superheroes or as in the TV series, Either way I would like to see that. Apparently Christian Bale has a justice League clause in his Batman contract, with how well the Smallville Ep Justice went I would not be surprised to see a big screen version soon.
