I'll also take Robber over Evil--thank you ABC 20 years ago!
The Moonbase was hot, hot, hot, but the best bits appear to be gone! The race Benoit has with the Cybermen in episode three...

The Mysterious Planet was a shocker - even if it was written by Robert Holmes! The story was very dull, and was one of the worst of the 6th Drs era. I find it hard to defend that one!
So The Mutants gets it. While by no means a classic, it was at least more 'together' than the former.
The Pirate Planet is my fave of the next 2. A witty script with many fine Douglas Adams moments. One of the best of the Key to Time season for sure. |

While only a shadow of its possible self, it's not The Mutants! So I'll give it to Mysterious! And I like The Myth Makers--so double neutrals this time!

I'll have to go for The Power of the Daleks for this one. This was one of the most crucial stories in the shows history, as it introduced the 2nd Dr and paved the way for the longevity of the series at that point.
Again, I found Robert Holmes's script for Power of Kroll to be very weak and it's no surprise that he took time off from Dr Who after that one.
Im not that big on the historical stories, but since I have to choose.....I'll go for The Reign of Terror, only because it sounds more interesting than The Rescue. |

Power of Kroll was dire--I don't think Holmes liked it much either. The Rescue is strangly compelling--neutral!

"The Robots of Death" - bloody classic.
Can only comment on "The Romans" - and I really didn't like that stroy. What was "The Savages"? That was when Steven left, wasn't it?
P.S. - Axel F, you really have good taste in Dr Who. Its' great to watch how you and Martin are going with this squash tournament. |

Robots of Death romps it home over Ribos Operation. Our club yearbook took its name from this last adventure, Jethryk.
The Savages was a bit obscure, no episodes exist. The audio was returned in 1993, the telesnaps found that year--first ones known to exist for a missing episode since The Crusade!--and there's a number of clips filmed off air by an Australian fan. These focus on Steven's departure in episode 4, suggesting this was filmed off a repeat of the story and thus this material was targeted. Probably the weakest of season three, The Romans beats it hands down.

The Seeds of Doom vs The Sensorites. |

The Robots of Death does it for me. A great patche of murder mysteries, and to have the Doctor follow the clues to the culprit made for a refreshing change. Even Leela was ok in it for a change!
The Ribos Operation seemed somewhat muddled, from memory.
I'll go for The Romans above The Savages, as I know a bit more about it than the later. |

This is a hard choice, as I like both The Sea Devils and Seeds of Death.
Sea Devils had an excellent story and a wonderful sword fight between the Dr and The Master. The whole story zipped along at a cracking pace. I'll go for this one.....although Seeds of Death was one of the better Season 6 stories.
The Seeds of Doom definately scores, as I havent seen The Sensorites. That story was one of the very few 6 parters that actually worked, due to the skills of Robert Holmes as Script Editor.

Easy for me--Sea Devils is the poor relative of The Silurians, or possibly the first wife who stays in the attic--"But you must never open this door!" Seed of Death is my least favourite Ice Wariors story, but it's still better.
The Sensorites was disapointing. When you find out there's an entire six! part! story!--from the first season!--and it exists in its entirety!--it sounds promising. Sigh. Seeds of Doom wins. |

The Sontaron Experiment for me. It's one of the very few 2 parters that works, and it fitted in nicely with Season 12.
Although I have heard The Smugglers is great, so I have fingers crossed that all of the eps will be found.
The Space Museum gets it for me. Ive heard really bad things about The Space Pirates, and the episode that I saw of it wasnt too impressive. |

The Smugglers had great material it was ripping off, but the results were mediocre. Sontaran Experiment was pretty good for what it was.
The Space Museum had one great episode and three dull ones. The Space Pirates wasn't that bad, but I'm willing to go with you on this.

The Sun Makers for sure. That was a very witty Holmes script, which had many layers in it that could be enjoyed. It struck a good balance between comedy and drama. Plus the acting was top notch too.
Stones of Blood was ok, but I generally thought that the Key To Time season was a missed opportunity - it could have been better handled.
The Talons of Weng Chiang absolutely wins!!! Thats one of my fave stories of all. It has everything that made the Baker years so good - mysterious characters, great costumes and a damn good story. The only thing that let it down was the silly rat!
The Tenth Planet was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as Talons. |

The Stones of Blood was a strangly generous script, almost as if it were two different stories. I found The Sun Makers disapointing, but better.
Talons vs Tenth Planet is a hard call! Tenth Planet is all important and iconic and very very strange. Talons by a nose! A large hairy squeeky one at that.
The Three Doctors vs The Time Meddler.
The Time Monster vs The Time Warrior. |

The Three Doctors does it for me. That was a very pivotal story in the Who canon, and to see the first 3 docs work together was wonderful. Omega was an interesting villain. I know there were some flaws in the story, but generally it was entertaining enough.
To be frank, I never liked both The TIme Monster and The Time Warrior....but if I must choose, then I'll go for The Time Warrior, as it introduced Sarah Jane and The Sontarons - although the story was generally pretty bland. |

You've gotta go for "The Three Doctors". the banter between Pertwee and Troughton was classic - and it continued (albeit briefly) into "The Five Doctors"
.....and the whole concept of singularities and black holes - there is supposed to be some scientific plausibility in that. Bloody classic story!
"The Time Warrior" - Now that, for me was one of Pertwee's finest. Lynx was a welcome addition to the Dr Who universe of villains (in my opinion, there should be much mre Sontaron stories). The medieval ambience was quaint and amusing. And the action of the story was fast paced. The only weakness was the over acting, but apart from that it was a classic.
Over to you gentlemen. |
